DRDO EXAMINATION

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducts several exams, such as the CEPTAM (Centre for Personnel Talent Management) exams, primarily aimed at recruiting for technical, administrative, and allied services positions, along with Scientist ‘B’ roles through the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC). Here are the key details for some popular DRDO examinations

:1. Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Varies by position. For CEPTAM, candidates should typically have completed relevant diploma or degree qualifications in fields like electronics, mechanical, computer science, or equivalent technical qualifications from a recognized institution.
  •  For Scientist ‘B’ roles, a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering along with a valid GATE score is required in relevant subjects (e.g., electronics, computer science, or environmental science).
  • Age Limit: Generally, the upper age limit for DRDO Technician posts is 28 years, while for Scientist ‘B’ it is up to 35 years for the general category (relaxations apply for reserved categories).
2. Exam Pattern
  • CEPTAM 10/DRTC Technician Exam: Conducted in two tiers.
    • Tier-I: Computer-based test with 120 objective questions on general intelligence, quantitative ability, reasoning, English language, general awareness, and subject-specific knowledge.
    • Tier-II: Trade-specific test for candidates qualifying in Tier-I. Both exams are typically 120 minutes long, and there is no negative marking.
  • Scientist ‘B’ (RAC): Includes shortlisting based on GATE scores, followed by a personal interview.
3. Syllabus Overview
  • The syllabus includes general awareness, quantitative aptitude, general reasoning, general science, and subject-specific technical knowledge. In Technician roles, topics align with the respective trade, while Scientist ‘B’ focuses on engineering fundamentals related to the applicant's field of study.
4. Total Marks and Selection Criteria
  • The CEPTAM Tier-I and Tier-II exams for Technician roles are scored out of 120 and 100 marks, respectively. Candidates are selected based on their cumulative scores across both tiers.
  • For Scientist ‘B’, selection is based on GATE scores, which weigh significantly in the shortlisting phase, followed by performance in the interview.
